Reference Books

Caring for native wildlife is no easy task! As any experienced carer will tell you, it is a pre-requisite to have mountains of perseverance and dedication!

There are also some great reference books that have been written by wildlife carers. These are packed full of information that is a must for any carer or prospective carer.

The Green Guide to Kangaroos & wallabies, written by Lee Curtis contains a wealth of material about our most popular macropods. This guide is available through FNQ Wildlife Rescue and selected outlets.

Another very good reference book is called Macropology and has been written by Cheryl Dooley. This guide is very comprehensive and covers many species of macropod. Cheryl's book is available online and can be downloaded from her website.

Another book that is a wealth of information is called Kangaroos - Our Gentle Aussie Icons, by Pat O'Brien. The book can be purchased here or by post from:

All Funds from the sale of this book go to the Wildlife Protection Association of Australia Inc. and are used to promote wildlife education programs in schools.
